Aims & Objectives
The purpose of this two day course is to provide increased awareness of the role of engineers in emergencies such that they can provide appropriate advice and support in emergencies

Engineers working in or anticipating involvement in emergencies

Course outline
This Course is designed for those who wish to pursue work as engineers in international humanitarian emergencies.  The Course provides an overview of the nature of International Humanitarian Emergencies and the useful roles that may be undertaken by engineers.

Overview of disaster management, Ethical, Legal and Conceptual aspects of Emergencies, Engineering and Codes of Ethics, Risk Assessment Risk Based Disaster Management, Developmental Approach to Disasters, Engineers in Relief, Rehabilitation and Recovery, Participatory Processes, Integration and Coordination, and Case Studies
